Tightening, Lifting, & Rejuvenating

When someone first meets you, their eyes are immediately drawn to your eyes and the middle of your face. The midface is the middle third of the face. As you age, the area may begin to sag or no longer appear as lifted as it once was. Dr. Vargason is an expert in treating this area of the face and carefully repositions tissues to create a more defined profile.

What is a Midface Lift?

A midface lift, also called a cheek lift, is a cosmetic procedure to target the area of the cheeks. The procedure can address sagging, wrinkles, and fat that has shifted in the area. The goal of the procedure is to have your cheeks appear more lifted and defined. It can also address your under-eyes and help them appear less sunken.

What is the Difference Between a Facelift and a Midface Lift?

A midface lift is a similar procedure to a facelift but focuses on the middle portion of the face.  This area is typically not addressed during a traditional facelift. Unlike a facelift in Boise, a midface lift does not address the jawline or chin.

During your consultation with Dr. Vargason, she can discuss other procedures complementing your midface lift.

Benefits of a Midface Lift

  • Lift drooping skin around the cheeks and other areas of the midface
  • Define or contour your cheekbones
  • Reduce hollow areas between the top of your cheekbones and lower eyelids
  • Reduce wrinkles and creases across the midface

Who Is a Candidate for a Midface Lift?

If you have noticed the middle of your face is starting to sage, or you can no longer notice the definition around your cheekbones, this may be the perfect procedure for you. To determine if you are a candidate for a midface lift, you should schedule a consultation with Dr. Vargason at her office, Nava Face & Eye.

During your consultation, she will review your medical history to ensure you are healthy enough for the procedure and discuss your areas of concern to determine if you are a good candidate.

Your Midface Lift Procedure

A midface lift is performed on an outpatient basis. The first step will be administering anesthesia, local or general, depending on your needs. Dr. Vargason begins by placing two small incisions along the hairline.

She can tighten the underlying muscles and manipulate the fat beneath the skin through these incisions. Excess skin or fat may be removed, and then the incisions will be closed using stitches.

Your Recovery

Once the procedure is complete, you will return home to recover. You should plan to recover for 1-2 weeks before returning to work and other activities. You may experience swelling, bruising, and pain during the recovery period.

Dr. Vargason will provide you with medication to manage your system and a complete guide to the recovery process. She will also be available to answer any questions and see you for follow-up appointments to remove your stitches and check in on your healing.

How long does a midface lift last?

Is a cheek lift the same as a midface lift?

What makes a midface lift different from a facelift?

The two procedures address different areas of the face. A facelift is used for the lower face areas, while a midface lift is just for the middle portion of the face.

Can a midface lift be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Dr. Vargason can help guide you on which procedures will complement your results. These procedures are an upper blepharoplasty, browplasty, and most commonly a lower eyelid blepharoplasty.

How long does a midface lift last?

Mid-facelifts effectively tighten the skin around the cheeks for approximately ten years. You can prolong your youthful results by properly caring for your skin and avoiding unprotected sun exposure.

Is a cheek lift the same as a midface lift?

Yes, a cheek lift is the same as a midface lift. While the complete facelift lifts the entire face, a midface or cheek lift primarily addresses aging around the cheekbones for more prominent youthful cheek contours.
