The Key to a Younger, More Radiant You

Dermal fillers can also be used to refine or reshape your existing features and create facial balance. If you have features that are too small or appear unbalanced, dermal fillers can be used to correct this. Dr. Caroline Vargason offers several different kinds of dermal fillers in Boise

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment that contains a gel-like substance that replicates your natural facial volume. This is commonly made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found within the body. It is used to help retain moisture in the skin and eyes and lubricate the joints.

When dermal fillers are injected into an area, they add volume. This can help “fill in” lines and wrinkles or give you a plumper pout. Over time they are broken down by the body, and you can receive follow-up treatments to maintain the results.

Types of Dermal Fillers in Boise

There are several brands of dermal fillers that Dr. Vargason uses. These include the following:

Sculptra® is a different type of dermal filler. It acts as a collagen stimulator that helps gradually replenish your lost facial volume. It is made with an acid called poly-L-lactic. It can be used on the cheeks, jawlines, fine lines, wrinkles, and temples.

Restylane can be used to add volume to the lips and cheeks or fill in fine lines and wrinkles. It is also made from hyaluronic acid and has a gel texture that produces natural results. Restylane offers a comprehensive product line and can be used to tackle numerous concerns, including facial wrinkles, the under eyes, lips, and sagging skin.

Versa is a versatile dermal filler designed to address various facial aesthetic concerns. It is composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body, making it safe and biocompatible. Unlike some other fillers, Versa provides immediate results with minimal to no downtime.

Your Dermal Filler Treatment

After your consultation, Dr. Vargason will select the best filler type of filler for you. Before your treatment begins, the area will be numbed using a topical anesthetic cream. Once the cream has taken effect, Dr. Vargason will begin injecting. You may require several injections per area to receive the desired result.

Dermal Filler Recovery

After dermal fillers in Boise, you will be able to resume your regular activities. You may experience some bruising, swelling, or redness in the area, which will resolve on its own after a few days. Most patients can continue with their day after treatment, although you will be asked to avoid exercise and excessive heat for the first few days.

How long do dermal fillers last?

How long dermal fillers last depend on the type of filler. In general, dermal fillers last between six and twelve months.

Are dermal fillers better than BOTOX?

Dermal fillers and BOTOX accomplish different goals. Fillers provide volume to plump the skin and fill in wrinkles, while BOTOX relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles in the first place. Some fillers can be paired with BOTOX to correct different facial areas simultaneously for complete facial rejuvenation.

What not to do after dermal fillers?

For the best results, avoid the following for 24 hours after dermal fillers:

  • Intense heat, such as a sauna
  • Pressure on the treatment site
  • Strenuous exercise
  • Alcohol
  • AHAs, retinol, and vitamin C
  • Oil-based makeup

Avoid the following for two weeks after dermal fillers:
  • Facials
  • Facial waxing
  • Glycolic or AHA peels
  • IPL or energy-based treatments
  • Microdermabrasion

Can dermal fillers be removed?

Dr. Vargason can remove dermal filler with an injectable treatment known as Hyaluronidase or Hyalase, enzymes that dissolve the bonds that hold the HA molecules together. Once broken down, these molecules are naturally absorbed by the body. You’ll notice reduced volume immediately after treatment, with full effects appearing after 72 hours.
